NWH - Huntington Hospital Emergency Department

The new 28,000-square-foot, LEED Gold-certified Emergency Department expansion and renovation is a much-needed addition to our growing community. Designed to enhance patient care and efficiency, this state-of-the-art facility offers advanced medical services, including an expanded outpatient triage department, radiology, MRI, and CT scans.

The Emergency Department utilizes a split-flow "Super-Track" model, a system that efficiently directs patients to acute or lower-acuity care areas based on their needs. This approach helps reduce patient wait times and decrease overall length of stay.

The facility features separate, dedicated spaces for three distinct patient populations, each with its own circulation path:

• Walk-in vertical patients
• Walk-in horizontal patients
• Ambulance-arriving patients

Strategically designed for seamless integration with the existing hospital, the expanded space connects on the first-floor level, ensuring easy access to radiology, lab services, and other critical medical departments. Thoughtfully planned key adjacencies also allow for future growth and expansion to continue meeting the evolving needs of the community.
